The impact is wider than South Holderness

ANALYSIS

If approval for a GDF in South Holderness is given, then the nuclear waste processed at Sellafield in Cumbria will be sent by rail, for likely transhipment to lorry for onward movement to the surface facility. This would most likely be to the existing extensive sidings at Hull Docks. Although a significant road trip, for comparison this will be less distance than that between Wyfla Nuclear Power Station and it's transhipment point at Valley on Ynys Môn.

Whilst the focus has been on the three East Riding of Yorkshire Wards and the Parlimentary Constituency of Beverley and Holderness, transport of nuclear waste to the surface facilty will impact a much wider population.

8 other East Riding of Yorkshire Wards have the potential rail route running through them.

Only 11 Kingston Upon Hull wards will not be impacted, whilst 10 will be. (This is consequence of some ward boundaries being based upon the railway line).

5 other Parlimentary Constituencies will be impacted, 2 in the East Riding and all 3 in Kingston Upon Hull.
