The Second drop-in

Whitehall Place, London, 2 February 2024 16:30pm

'Sir Humphey?'

'Yes Bernard?'

'A call from the Minister'

'Thank you Bernard, doesn't he realise that some of us have tickets for Covent Garden tonight? Put him through.'

'Yes Sir Humphrey.'

'Minister. Good evening I hope you had a good day in your constituency.'

'Not exactly, I was door-stepped by the leader of that protest group while I was speaking with GB News, and their film crew went off and did an even longer interview with her. On top of that there was this woman in tea-shirt saying I do not consent, she had  a clip board with a picture of a pizza and two pints on the back. She was handing out questionaires for athe attendees to taken in, and was uttering a mantra of "If they tell you it safe, remember they also told you there weren't any parties in Downing Street." How do we counter that Humphrey? The NWS team told me that the questions are getting more detailed and informed. I dont think it is going as well as it could.'

'Minister you did tell them about your referendum didn't you?'

'Of course, but I think we need a discussion before the drop-in's next week. It appears the group is almost twelve-hundred now, and they want to talk with their councillors. The Ward councillors are still on board aren't they?'

'Well eight of the nine for the tree wards Minister. It is only the labour councillor who also happens to be the leader of the labour group that isn't, but we have the Full Council Leader's support and the Invest East Yorkshire team still appear very positive.'

'Well I hope so. Ask Bernard to book a zoom call at ten on Monday to include the Chair of the Working Group and the publicty person. I will be on the nine-fouteen train. I will be in a hurry so I will need a car from the station.'
