Welcome to South Holderness GDF Action Resource Site

South Holderness is one of four areas of the UK currently being considered for the establishment of a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) for the long-term storage of the UK's existing and future nuclear waste.

This site is intended to provide information and resources for those who are opposed to the establishment of a GDF for nuclear waste in South Holderness.

It is not for debating the rights or wrongs of nuclear power/weapons/medicine. We have had them for the last 80 years, and even if we stopped using nuclear today there is at least a 100 years clean up. The waste produced needs to go somewhere.

It is not about whether a GDF is the right solution. We currently have waste at some 34 locations across the UK, much of it in the open air, and it needs to be stored securely. A GDF may be that solution.

This site is solely for explaining what a GDF is and involves, and demonstrating that South Holderness is NOT the best place for a GDF for the UK. (It will also having positive suggetions for sites that are)

There may be some Blog posts which are opinion, commentary or analysis, but these will be clearly marked as such.
